Advancing Equity in Adult Immunization: Supporting Community Voices

A large federal public health initiative launched in 2020 to advance equity in adult immunization. The program invested over $150 million in funding and support for national, state, local, and community-level partners working to reduce disparities in vaccine access and uptake—particularly among racial and ethnic communities disproportionately affected by gaps in adult immunization. A core goal of the initiative was to elevate the voices of community-based organizations (CBOs) and provide a platform for them to share their experiences, challenges, and successes in improving vaccine confidence and access.
Our Solution
Evidence to Practice served as the initiative’s subject matter expert on adult immunization from a health equity perspective. The ETP team provided clinical and programmatic guidance to both community-based organizations and program staff, ensuring that partners had the information, context, and support needed to strengthen their vaccination equity efforts.
